The most difficult tea to pick in China – Eagle Tea

This should be the most difficult tea to pick in Chinese tea. Widely grown in western China, this is eagle tea. The tea tree is a rare high-altitude ancient tree called leopard skin camphor, locally known as red and white tea. It grows in evergreen broad-leaved forests at an altitude of 1000-1500 meters. Some tea trees have a diameter of 50 centimeters, and according to many farmers, some tea trees are 500 years old. Eating eagle tea has a history of more than 1000 years.

The tea farmers who pick eagle tea are all good at climbing trees, using both hands and feet, quickly climbing to the top of camphor trees that are over ten meters high, and slowly moving to the treetops. Regardless of the violent shaking of the tree trunk, it is a big test for tea farmers to speed up the leaf bag picking.
Stir frying tea, withering, rolling, fermenting, and sun drying tea are the production techniques passed down from generation to generation for Eagle Tea. Every word is good, every step is not missed. For hundreds of years, tea farmers have been following and inheriting the tradition of tacit understanding.

The handmade inheritance skills of Shifang Hongbai Tea (Eagle Tea) have been selected for the second batch of rural production and living heritage list in Sichuan Province.
